We are a busy group practice with 14 pathologists and 3 pathologists’ assistants. Our Path Assts are responsible for routine and complex surgical cases, assisting with frozen sections, and autopsies. 35,000 surgicals annually; 60-70 autopsies annually. The Path Assts and most of the pathologists are based at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. We receive inpatient surgical cases from five additional hospitals. A 3rd or 4th year pathology resident rotates on our service, cutting every other day and sharing call with the Path Assts (every fourth weekend). Call includes cutting cases on Saturday, usually finished by 3 pm. Sundays are free except for occasional autopsies. No night call. Candidates must have or be eligible for AAPA Fellow status. New graduates are welcome to apply. Relocation expenses covered.
