We are a busy group practice with 14 pathologists and 3 pathologists’ assistants.  Our Path Assts are responsible for routine and complex surgical cases, assisting with frozen sections, and autopsies.  35,000 surgicals annually; 60-70 autopsies annually.  The Path Assts and most of the pathologists are based at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.  We receive inpatient surgical cases from five additional hospitals.  A 3rd or 4th year pathology resident rotates on our service, cutting every other day and sharing call with the Path Assts (every fourth weekend).  Call includes cutting cases on Saturday, usually finished by 3 pm.  Sundays are free except for occasional autopsies.  No night call.

Albuquerque is located in central New Mexico and is the largest city in the state with a population of approximately 450,000.  The climate is pleasant, with lows in the winters generally in the mid 20s and highs in the summers of 95-100.  Many outdoor activities are available including biking, hiking, and skiing.
